The journey in search of crystal clear visual entertainment has produced various television (TV) types as results, but more research is being carried out to improve on these results. The modern TV technology concepts are optimizing space, picture quality, and more content accessibility.

Plasma TV:

The technology in the plasma TV has light-producing cells called Pixel; they are individual fluorescent micro-light bulb that receives instruction from the rear silicon circuit board. Picture Quality: Plasma TV provides great picture quality using the high contrast ratio of about 100,000:1, and it uses the least power when displaying dark images; while the most power is consumed when it displays white colors. The color pixels amount to about 16 megapixels, which comes as a combination of red, green and blue color element. The screen viewing angle for the plasma TV covers 180 degrees.

LCD TV:

These TV types have displays of similar technology whether placed in a flat screen; it has a thin-film transistor (TFTs) that are arrayed to supply power to liquid crystal cells, that at are positioned between two glass sheets. The liquid crystal component explains the name Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

When the LCD receives an electric charge, a white light coming from the back of the display in flat screens gets filtered by the tilt of crystals to certain degrees that generate particular colors.

Picture Quality: The LCD TV struggles to generate good picture quality through brighter displays or contrast degradation. LCD TVs cover a viewing angle of about 45 degrees; it uses more power to display black images unlike the plasma TV, and it uses less power to display bright images.

Projection TVs:

The set-up for these types of TVs is almost the same as the LCD TVs; but the LCD TVs come in two different variants which are the flat screen panel and the projector panel. The projector panel is the component contained in the Projection TVs. The backlight is projected through the panels to provide colour combinations from the crystals.

Picture Quality: These TVs can provide HD picture but the contrast quality of the plasma TV still outshines the contrast ratio on the Projection TV.

LED TV:

LED TVs share similar front panels as the ones on LCD TVs; the major difference here is the kind of backlight technology on it. The pixel cells of the previous technology was replaced with a light emitting diode (LED) innovation which provides more performance capabilities.

More improvements on this technology provides a variant of LED TVs that has light panels at the edge of the screen, they come with thinner designs than the ones with backlight; but the back-lit LED TVs provide more light all around the screen and gives better pictures than the other variant.

Picture Quality: LED TVs come with improved technology than the LCD TVs that try to match the plasma TV contrast strength, it allows for more grayscale while producing brighter picture.

OLED:

Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TVs are a product of improvements from the LED TVs; they do not have backlights unlike the former. The technology here permits each pixel to be controlled individually, lighting up and switching off to produce extreme black colors. The image and motion responses on the OLED TVs are faster 1000 times than the LED TVs.

Picture Quality: The design of these innovative TVs are currently receiving improvements but engineers have achieved completely flexible screens that display the best picture quality. They are providing 4K quality video display for very fast visuals.
